KAFU AI Assistant

KAFU AI Assistant

An AI-powered conversational assistant built by KAFU iiHub, trained on institutional knowledge to deliver instant, accurate answers to questions about programmes, admissions, fees, campus life, and more — around the clock.

The KAFU AI Assistant was conceived to solve a persistent challenge: students and visitors frequently struggled to find information buried across multiple pages and documents on the university's digital platforms. The assistant puts that information at their fingertips in natural language.

Under the hood, the system leverages a large language model fine-tuned on KAFU-specific institutional data — academic programmes, fee structures, admission requirements, key contacts, event schedules, and procedural guides. It understands context across a conversation, so follow-up questions are handled naturally without the user needing to repeat themselves.

The assistant is embedded directly into the KAFU institutional website and the iiHub platform, accessible from any page without requiring a login or download. It supports text queries and quick-action shortcuts for the most common requests.

Current capabilities include: programme information lookup, admissions guidance, fee queries, campus map navigation, event listings, and contact routing. Future development will add application status tracking, multi-language support (English and Kiswahili), and voice interface capability.
