EcoCred

EcoCred makes environmental responsibility visible, measurable, and rewarding. By gamifying everyday green actions, the platform builds a community of conscious citizens who compete, collaborate, and celebrate their collective impact.

EcoCred was built by Team Verdant Techies at the Green Tech Hackathon 2025. The team's insight was simple but powerful: people are far more likely to adopt sustainable behaviours when those behaviours are visible, social, and rewarding — the same psychological triggers that make gaming and fitness apps so sticky.

Users log eco-friendly actions — planting a tree, sorting waste for recycling, choosing to walk instead of drive, reducing single-use plastic — and earn EcoPoints for each verified action. Points accumulate to unlock badges (e.g., 'Tree Guardian', 'Zero Waste Champion'), and users can join time-limited community challenges such as 'Plant 1,000 Trees This Month'.

Each user has a personal impact dashboard showing their carbon offset estimate, trees planted, and kilometres walked. A community leaderboard encourages friendly competition, while team challenges allow schools, businesses, and neighbourhoods to participate collectively.

The hackathon judges commended EcoCred for its creative approach to behaviour change, the polish of its prototype UI, and the strength of its community mechanics. The team received mentorship from Oracle's sustainability team to guide further development.
